Diese Staude kann wie eine Einjährige behandelt werden. Sie produziert Unmengen an 5cm großen kelchförmigen Blüten, die die Pflanze nur so eindecken. Für die beste Wirkung sollte sie in vierergruppen, mit einem Abstand von 3cm, in Behälter gepflanzt werden und am Ende der Saison in Rabatten oder Steingärten als Staude pikieren.

Sow from February to late May on the surface of a good seed compost. Germination takes 30-90 days at 22C (70F). Don't exclude light, sealing in a polythene bag after sowing is helpful.

When large enough to handle, transplant the seedlings into boxes or 7.5cm (3in) pots, and grow on in cooler conditions. For, baskets and containers etc., plant into the basket when well rooted in groups of four 2.5cm (1in) apart. For the first few days after planting, grow cool and well ventilated and give plenty of light, but shade from direct sun. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before moving outside after all risk of frost has gone.

Hang out-of-doors in a sunny sheltered spot. At the end of the season, plant out in the flower border or rockery, 30cm (12in) apart in full sun and ordinary, well drained garden soil.
