Sow in trays, pots, etc of good seed compost in a propagator or warm place to maintain an optimum temperature of 20C (75F). Sow in well drained compost, just covering the seed with compost. Seal the container inside a polythene bag after sowing. Sow February to May. Germination usually takes 14-30 days.

Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots. Harden off and plant out when all risk of frost has passed. Space the plants 45cm (18in) apart.
