Jedes Blumenblatt ist gleichmäßig in rote und gelbe Streifen aufgeteilt, so daß ein Effekt ensteht, der jedem ins Auge fällt. Die buschigen und gleichförmigen 60 cm (2ft) großen Pflanzen produzieren viele Blumen, die sich ausgezeichnet für Blumenbeete eignen und sich besonders gut als Schnittpflanze machen, weil sie lange im Wasser überleben. Gelegentlich kommt eine einfarbige gelbe Blüte, die durch Klimaveränderungen ensteht.

Sow in spring at 21-24C (70-75F) in a good seed compost. Just cover the seed with compost and keep the soil damp but not wet. Germination usually takes 5-14 days.

When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow in cooler conditions. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost, 30cm (12in) apart in a sunny spot.

Approx. 10-15 days after planting out, pinch out the growing point at the top of the plant to make them bush out.
