Einfach fantastisch! Ähnelt einer kleinen Palme, mit einem kräftigem Stamm und wunderschönen Stängeln aus handförmigen Blättern. Diese Sorte braucht im Garten Schutz, ist aber auch perfekt für einen großen Topf in Ihrem Wintergarten oder für die Rabatte im Gewächshaus. Samtartige magentarote Blumen werden in Rispen produziert und heben sich über den exotischen Blättern empor. Blüht spät Winter bis spät Sommer.

Sowing Time: March to May. Sow seed on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays. Do not cover the seed. Keep at a temperature of between 15-20C (59-68F). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged; germination can take 1-3 months and may be erratic.

When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost, 23-30cm (9-12in) apart. For best results, provide any ordinary well-drained soil in full sun.

Geranium maderense may behave as a biennial, flowering in the second year from sowing, or may be more long-lived as a perennial. This species needs protection so should be kept frost-free for the winter months or grown in a greenhouse or conservatory.
