Our Food, Miles or Metres?

At this year's RHS Chelsea Flower Show (20th May - 24th May 2008) Thompson & Morgan will be exhibiting a garden for the first time

The garden will be 5m x 5m in size and has been designed to appeal to families living in an urban area who are increasingly concerned with issues relating to healthy eating and the impact food travelling miles are having on the environment.

The garden demonstrates that in a small space with successional planting a family can enjoy home grown produce all year round. Varieties featured include exotic flavours such as Blueberry, Sweet Potato and citrus fruit available to grow in our already changing climate. The use of natural resources, wind energy, solar power and collecting and recycling rain water all add to a reduction in our carbon footprint.
