Description
New 2008 For Organic Gardening. An easy way to add nutrients and bulky, organic matter (humus) to your soil, helping to maintain or improve fertility and soil structure. Quick growing, lush carpet of growth. Sow spring to autumn; this mix is ideal for autumn sowing. Mixture contains: Rye, Vetch and Tetraploid Italian Rye Grass. Contents: 150g (5oz) Sufficient to sow 5 sq.m (approx 5.5 sq. yd) at 30g per sq. m /1oz per sq. yd. Please note: Seed has not been organically grown.
Sowing Instructions
Sow from spring to autumn but ideally sow in the autumn to provide a lush carpet of growth which can be dug in during late autumn or winter./p> Sow anytime the land is vacant or there is an area which requires increased fertility. Scatter the seed over the soil surface and carefully rake in, or alternatively sow thinly about 12mm (½in) deep, in narrow drills which are about 15cm (6in) apart. Allow 30g per sq.m/1oz per sq. yd.
Growing Instructions
Leave seedlings to grow to about 23cm (9in) high, approx. 40-90 days, and then dig in. Plants can be allowed to grow taller, whereby their root system will draw up further minerals. Taller plants will need chopping up prior to digging in, but will provide increased bulky organic matter to the soil. |
