The original Israeli strain. The seed coveted and jealously guarded for so long, and no wonder - you will find it an entirely new experience in taste. It has an indescribable warmth, richness and aromatic sweetness of flavour, captivating and 'moreish'. It bears minimelon-sized fruits ideal for families. Harvest from mid summer onwards.

Sow from late winter/spring 1cm (½in) deep in a good seed compost. Germination usually takes 6-10 days at 24C (75F).

Transplant when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots and then 13cm (5in) pots before planting 1m (3ft) apart in the greenhouse border, frames or cloches, or outdoors when all risk of frost is gone.

Pinch out the growing point after 5 leaves have been formed. Hand pollinate by placing a male flower inside a female bloom. Female flowers have a swollen part at the base of the bloom.
