Description
Almost round, netted skin 1.3-1.8kg (3 to 4lb) fruits with aromatic, sweet, thick deep orange flesh with a small seed cavity. Ripens early under glass or outdoors. Bred to give increased Hybrid vigour, garden performance and flavour, thus increasing your harvest. Due to their wide ranging pest and disease resistance, there will be no need for the use of chemicals.
Sowing Instructions
Sow April to May in pots of moist seed compost and cover with a 1cm (½inch) layer of compost or vermiculite. Place in a propagator or warm place, and keep at a constant temperature of between 20-25C (68-77F). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged; germination will usually take 7-10 days.
Growing Instructions
When at the 2 leaf stage, transplant seedlings on into at least 10cm (4 inch) pots for a few weeks before potting on into larger containers or direct into the greenhouse border, or use 2 plants per growbag. Provide support for the plants to climb. Pinch out the tip of growth after 4 true leaves are produced, then train 4 lateral branches to the 6 leaf stage before again pinching out. Allow sub-lateral growth to develop to produce fruit. Pollinate if necessary, by transferring pollen from the male flowers to the female blooms (with bump beneath the bloom).
Aftercare Instructions
Water and feed plants regularly with tomato fertiliser. Can also be grown outdoors in rich, well-prepared soil, allow 90cm (36 inches) between plants. Harvest fruits once they snap easily from the stem and give a sweet aroma. |
