Sherbet Fizz is an easy to grow annual, specially selected for its striking colour combination. These unusual buff-coloured blooms also have intriguing darker red undersides on several layers of tightly packed petals, each tipped with red, creating a spectacular sherbet fizz effect as the blooms open. Sown in drifts directly into borders they will make a stunning addition to your garden, as well as making an attractive cut flower. Height: 40-45cm (16-18in).
Sowing Instructions
Sow March to May. Sow outdoors where they are to flower. Prepare the ground well and rake to a fine tilth before sowing. Sow 12mm (½in) deep, in rows 30cm (12in) apart. For Spring/Summer Flowering Pot Plants - Sow in a cool greenhouse or conservatory in late summer/early autumn. Grow on cool in full light and water sparingly.
Growing Instructions
When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 20cm (8in) apart.
Kitchen Notes
The petals can be used as a substitute for saffron, added to soups, rice or omelettes. They also make a bright addition to salads. |
