Height: 70-100cm (28-40in).
Sow September- February or May-June . Sow seed on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays. Cover with a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place container in a propagator or seal inside a polythene bag at a temperature of 21ºC (70ºF) . Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged.
If germination does not occur after 3-4 weeks, place sown container in the fridge at 40F (5C) for 3 weeks to pre-chill, then return to the warmth after this period. This will help overcome any seed dormancy and aid germination. Keep a close watch on seeds whilst in a fridge as germination may occur, if this happens before the 3 week pre-chill period is complete, move the container out of fridge. Seed germination may be erratic.
Transplant individual seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays.
