Description

New 2008

An attractive and rarely seen member of the poppy family. Each plant produces branched stems that bear large, deep yellow, nodding, poppy-like flowers against attractive grey-green foliage. Adds height and interest to borders.

Can be sown March to May as an annual or sown in September to flower the following year as a biennial.

Height 50-70cm (20-28in)

Sowing Instructions

Sow March to May or September as a biennial.

Sow seeds thinly in shallow drills 30cm (12in) apart in well-cultivated soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Thin out seedlings to 30cm (12in) apart when large enough to handle

Alternatively, sow late summer direct in drills as above if you live in the south of the country. If you live in the cooler northern parts of the country, sow late summer in 7.5cm (3in) pots in a cool greenhouse and then overwinter plants in a coldframe. Plant out the following spring after all risk of frost, 30cm (12in) apart.

Caution

Harmful if eaten
