Sow outdoors in spring, thinly, I cm (½ inch) deep in drills 45cm (18 inches) apart in well cultivated soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. For winter and early spring flowering pot plants sow in a cool greenhouse late summer/autumn, transferring to 7.5cm (3 inch) pots when large enough to handle.

For outdoor sowing, thin out seedlings to 30-46cm (12-18 inches) apart.

Prefers a positon in full sun, will grow in most soils.
