A very productive variety producing bright green, smooth, rounded leaves available for picking over a long period. Slow to bolt, and ideal baby leaves for salads. Tetona also features excellent downy mildew resistance, especially important for spring and autumn sowings.
Sow March to June, or mid August to Sept for late autumn crops, 12mm (½ inch) deep in well prepared, fertile soil, in broad drills. Allow 30cm (12 inches) between rows.
Prefers moist, well-drained soil. Harvest April to July, or Sept to Oct with cloches to extend season.
Popeye was right! You can eat no better vegetable than spinach as it is rich in Vitamins A and C, beta-carotene, lutein (which helps protect against eye disease) and dietary fibre.
