Description
Often seen sprinkling cornfields with its bright scarlet flowers. Ideal for creating a bright splash of colour in a sunny corner where little else will grow, or in the wild garden where it self seeds with ease. Flowers early summer. Height: 18-24 inches. Thompson & Morgan will donate 10p to Royal British Legion (Registered charity no. 210063), for each packet of Poppy Flanders seeds sold, to provide work and support for disabled ex-Servicemen and women and their families.
Sowing Instructions
Sow early spring to early summer or autumn outdoors where they are to flower. Prepare the ground well and rake to a fine tilth before sowing. Scatter the seed and rake in lightly.
Growing Instructions
When large enough to handle, remove any seedlings which are too close to each other so that they are 15-30cm (6-12in) apart.
Aftercare Instructions
They prefer a sunny open site but will grow in most sites and soils. For the longest flowering period and to prevent self seeding remove the seed pods as the petals fall. |
