Description
Ready in 6-8 weeks and crops for 6 months or more. A new application of an old European technique producing nutritious, tasty and tender leaves through many months of the year. Particularly valuable for producing tender young shoots in spring and a spring sowing should produce salad material through summer.
Sowing Instructions
Sow late winter (under glass), mid-spring/mid summer and autumn (outdoors or under glass), in ordinary moist, yet well drained weed free soil. Rake to a fine tilth, sow thinly scattering seed evenly over the surface and rake lightly to just cover the seed.
Growing Instructions
Cutting starts late spring onwards. Some plants in the mixture can be cut 4-5 times, others not so often. Start when 5-8cm (2-3in) high. Pluck the young leaves or cut them cleanly across to 4-8cm (1-2in) above the soil with scissors.
Aftercare Instructions
After cutting remove fallen leaves etc. Keep the bed clean and well watered and give an occasional feed. A good 'catch crop' sprinkled among slow growing, widely spaced plants. Growbags can be utilised after the tomato crop etc has been cleared from them. Mixture will contain Onion White Lisbon, Chervil, Basil Sweet Green, Rocket, Purslane, Chicories, Loosehead Lettuce, Lettuce Valmaine. |
