Description
Strong growing Italian Flat Leaved (Plain leaved) parsley indispensable for a huge range of dishes, sauces, salads and as garnish. Dark green leaves stand well in condition without yellowing; good winter hardiness.
Sowing Instructions
Seeds of parsley are very slow to germinate, especially in very wet, cold soils. For this reason it may be best to sow in pots or trays during March and April under protection where a minimum temperature of 15C can be maintained. Keep soil just moist. Sowing outdoors must be delayed until the soil temperature is at least 15C, normally during April and May. In very mild climates sowings can be made in the autumn and overwintered.
Growing Instructions
To help retain moisture and good temperatures the seedbed can be covered by fleece. Thin plants to 15cm apart and keep watered during dry weather and feed with a nitrogen fertiliser to encourage continued production of leaves for cutting.
Aftercare Instructions
Can also be sown regularly through spring and summer, on the windowsill, for fresh leaves throughout the year.
Kitchen Notes
Serving suggestion - Parsley and Garlic sandwich spread. Chop parsley and garlic, mix with mayonnaise. Thickly cut slices of Italian bread and spread generously. |
