Description
A fragrant meadow herb with small white flowers that appear like umbels at the top of the stalks. Known as 'Queen of the Meadow' meadowsweet, water mint, and vervain were the three herbs held most sacred by the Druids. Meadowsweet was added to wine and beer up to the fourteenth century as a sweetener and clarifier. The herb is collected in July, when in flower. Meadowsweet is visited by bees for the pollen. Applications: astringent, diuretic, heartburn, reduces diarrhoea. The dried herb used in a pint of water is good diet drink. An infusion of the fresh tops produces perspiration. Distilled water made with the flowers is also useful for inflammation of the eyes Bath: a meadowsweet bath is refreshing and eases tired limbs. Each SeedPotT Greetings Card has a transparent resealable pot which keeps your seeds in the best possible condition. They contain seeds which transform into the flower on the front of the card. Follow the sowing instructions carefully and watch them grow over time into a unique and colourful expression of natural beauty. |
