Description
Latin name salvia, from salvere - meaning to be in good health or to cure. Sage was an important medicinal herb of Medieval Europe and most monastic and convent gardens grew it. 'The desire of sage is to render man immortal' instructs a late medieval treatise. Applications: sage aids digestion and is antiseptic and antifungal. It is good for diarrhoea. It is helpful to women during the menopause, prevents sweating and calms the mind. Used as a mouthwash sage is said to help with gums, ulcers and sore throats. If rubbed on teeth it is said to whiten them. Sage tea is said to prevent blood clots forming and is useful for heart attacks. It can be used in facial steams and astringent cleansing lotions, and as a conditioner for grey hair. Each SeedPotT Greetings Card has a transparent resealable pot which keeps your seeds in the best possible condition. They contain seeds which transform into the flower on the front of the card. Follow the sowing instructions carefully and watch them grow over time into a unique and colourful expression of natural beauty. |
