Fantastic spring clusters of bloom in wine red, yellow, blue, pink bicolour, purple, rose pink and white, surrounded by dark bronze-green foliage. A superb winter hardy container/ bedding plant.
Sow spring to midsummer in good seed compost. Sow seed on surface of compost and seal in a polythene bag or cover with a piece of glass. Place in a shady spot but do not exclude light which is beneficial to germination. Keep the soil damp but not wet. Germination usually takes 10-30 days at 15-18C (60-65F), higher temperatures can prevent germination. Once most of the seed have come up, sprinkle a tiny amount of compost over the roots to anchor them. If there has been no germination after 30 days put the pot in the fridge (not freezer) for 2-3 weeks and then return to warmth. Check on the seeds regularly whilst in the fridge and remove if they start to germinate.
