Yes this is a Delphinium! Attractive petite plants, covered in a blanket of delightful, sky-blue flowers. Flowering in their first year from sowing, making them perfect for bedding, borders or containers, providing a colourful display over a long summer period.
Sow from late winter to early summer 1.5mm (1/16in) deep in a good seed compost. Make sure the compost is moist but not wet and seal inside a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 21-30 days at 18-24C (65-75F).
Later plant out 30cm (12in) apart into moist but well drained soil in full sun. Seed sown early will often flower the same season. D. cardinale is a short lived perennial.
