Approximate root length: 20cms (8 inches).
Early maturing Nantes with smooth conical roots. Ideal for salads, due to good colour, with vigorous foliage making pulling easier.
Bred to give increased Hybrid vigour, garden performance and flavour, thus increasing your harvest. Due to their wide ranging pest and disease resistance, there will be no need for the use of chemicals.
Carrots prefer a deep, rich well drained soil which does not contain fresh manure or compost. Sow spring to mid-summer in drills 1cm (½in) deep, spaced 30cm (12in) apart.
The last thinnings should provide tender roots just large enough to be used. Harvest late summer and autumn. The roots can be lifted and stored between layers of peat or sand in a frost-free place for winter use.
Carrots make a healthy, nutritious addition to your daily diet. They are high in Vitamin A and beta-carotene, and rich in antioxidants.
