Désignation
Bush (Determinate). A dwarf stocky bush variety, both early and heavy yielding, with large trusses of crimson fruit produced low down on the stem. This makes it one of the best varieties for growing in pots, tubs, windowboxes, growbags and in the garden where it is particularly useful if space is limited.
Semis
Sow in spring approximately 5-7 weeks before you wish to plant them out. Sow 1.5mm (1/16in) deep in good seed compost. Germination takes 6-14 days at 24C (70F). Transplant the seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots and grow on in good light and cooler, well lit conditions. Soil based composts produce shorter plants than peat based composts. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting into their container, growbag etc or into moist well drained, fertile soil in a sunny spot 60cm (24in) apart. Feed regularly and keep the roots supplied with moisture. This variety requires no side shooting, but may need staking when full of fruit. |
